High Definition When?

With that noted, this E-zine will give some background to high-definition technology and the Sony high-definition video recorders now available. To start with, the future of high-definition broadcasting is confusing. The "p" stands for progressive scan and the "i" stands for interlaced scan but more on this later. Panasonic manufactures the camcorders that generate 720 horizontal lines and Sony manufactures the video recorders that generate 1080 horizontal lines.

Trade mags say BSkyB plans to send out both 720p and 1080i in a service that may begin sometime in 2006 though I was latterly told 1080i might be the sole format they use for transmission. The wave of future broadcasting is here : Digital TV ( DTV ) brings spectators the best picture and sharpest audio available, with better resolution and more possibilities than standard analog television. With DTV, broadcasters can now broadcast programs on different signals, including high-definition signals. High-definition TV ( HDTV ) signals are incredibly superior to analog signals, with 5 times the resolution. HDTV signals deliver a wide screen picture with superior detail and clearness, as well as the best audio experience available. For Television spectators who are serious about home theater, digital TV is a necessity. Either dig deep into your pocket and buy a new Television , or install a Digital Converter Box* and keep your present set going. This is only replying to what our clients have requested most. This is one Hi-D mpeg recorder we will be able to counsel using right away with no exceptions. It is an upgrade of the DSR-PD170P compact video recorder. It shoots using the interlaced function only and can be switched between 50i and 59. Progressive scan isn't possible with the 730S.
